So what's new with you?

I have no pictures to update with. It has been a fairly eventful week, with no signs of slowing up in the foreseeable future, YIPEEE!

Tuesday Hadley had a place on her back that she said hurt. By Wednesday night it was red, hard and had what appeared to be a whitehead on it. Thursday Wayne took her to see the nurse at school and she said that it looked like she had some type of staph infection. Sure enough, I took her to the doctor and that is precisely what it was. She had a wart that had abscessed and developed staph. What followed was not pretty. As I held Hadley face down, they drained the site, she screamed at the top of her lungs about not wanting it popped, it went on for 10 minutes. After it was over, and I let her up and discovered the next ugly truth of the day, the sleeve of my shirt from wrist to elbow covered in snot and tears. The joys of Motherhood, the conveniently left out of the manual. We should get the results of her culture back on Monday and are hoping the antibiotic they have her on is the correct treatment.

Friday Ellison got her tubes in her ears. We are so very hopeful for the relief that this will bring her. She was such a little trooper. By Friday afternoon she was back to her little fiery self leaving havoc in her wake. Such a little "tude with that one. I love it now, not sure in 6 months. Friday evening I got a text message from Ellison's teacher saying there had been 3 confirmed cases of chicken pox in her class and to watch her closely (do you see where this is going). We checked her out and didn't see any signs, my Mom had come up to watch the girls for us Saturday and they enjoyed some BellBell time. This morning when Ellison woke up, she had a few bumps on her belly. As the day has progressed, the pox have multiplied. We will be taking her to the doctor this afternoon for confirmation, but more than that to document it in her chart and get some questions answered. After texting her teacher back, I have learned they are now up to 5 cases including Ellison.

So it appears the little red head will celebrate her birthday with a polka dot theme. We will have to put her 1 year pictures (which were scheduled for Wednesday), her birthday party (which was scheduled for Saturday) and Thanksgiving on hold and see what develops. Which only means December is going to be crazy!!!!!!

Tea a drink with jam and bread

So there is a story behind this tea party. It was several weeks in the making. At the start of the school year, the Girl Scouts came in to talk to the girls at The Bud, of course Hads wanted to join. Time is a little thin for us in the evenings right now and we had already told her she could only have one activity this year. She had already picked Gym and was registered. She was devastated, like tears and wailing devastated. Upon further questioning, I learned she wasn't devastated because she would miss out on the fellowship or community service, but rather because Girl Scouts have tea parties, and she wanted to have a tea party. So since then we have been trying to "trade" her with a tea party for some awesome behavior at school. We had every intention of taking her to ta local Tea House for the full treatment, but apparently people only go for Tea Monday - Friday. So we quickly made our own tea party at home. I pulled out one of my Mom's beautiful tablecloths for decorations and then pulled out my antique snack plates and cups she collected for me. In the approximate 10 years we have lived here, the plates have never been used and had an unusual layer of funk on them after being in the "Outhouse" (not really an outhouse, it is a piece of furniture that is huge that Wayne and Matt nicknamed the outhouse after they had to move it.) Wayne informed me that they must be disinfected before we ate off of them. In just a few minutes we had a very happy little girl and a Daddy that was cracking her up, trying to act dignified. At one point, she looked at Wayne and giggled, "Daddy, just act NORMAL." Snort on my part, that won't be happening.

That's right Alex, I'll take Stupid Mistakes for $20, please.

So Saturday morning, I wanted to have a few mommy minutes, can we say mani/pedi please? I told Wayne what I wanted to do, and apparently the curly haired diva was eavesdropping. She lets me know very quickly she is going with me. It wasn't quite what I had planned, but it was better. Seeing her sitting there in the massage chair getting absolutely giggly, because she is so ticklish and the chair was beating on her was my favorite, followed closely by how intently she watched the lady paint the polka dots on her nails.

So Saturday evening, we were party pooper parents and didn't take the girls trick or treating. Apparently, my lack of enthusiasm for this non holiday stems from a traumatic experience at a bowling alley and a scary mask. The girls played and Ellison really got in to it.... Wayne and I watched the Auburn game, Hadley cheered from the other room whenever she heard Wayne hollering because Auburn scored and Ellison went back and forth.

This is one of my favorites. Ellison is passing through and starts beating on the TV, Masoli you are going down!!!!!!

The girls did get to dress up again for our Fall get together at Church. Considering how warm it is, the Screaming Strawberry became the Adorable Auburn cheerleader. It was shortly before this picture was taken as I was hitting the snooze button from my nap, that I had a crazy realization about Ellison's birthday invitations which I had ordered, stuffed, addressed, stamped and mailing on Monday. I had put her birthdate on the invitations, instead of the actual date of her party. No time to reorder and have them mailed, so I had to pay quadruple the price. That's right Alex, I'll take Stupid Mistakes for $20, please..... What is $5 invitations for $20?

Fast forward to Monday and Hadley wakes up wailing about her hip that she popped the night before at Church, but didn't say anything about and is all congested. Not knowing if she is putting on about her hip or if she is actually hurt, she goes on to school and Wayne checks on her throughout the day. She apparently had a rough time with it and wasn't able to sit criss cross apple sauce. She got up this morning and was doing a little better and she went on to school. Around 10:00 I get a text message from Ellison's daycare she is spewing. I'm thinking it is from all the congestion, which just isn't clearing up. I check on her throughout the day and they said she is just ill. I call Wayne and tell him if Hads is still hurting, we are taking them together, because I'm not going two days in a row. Are you following? We take them both to the doctor, Hadley has an ear infection and fluid on the other one (didn't see that one coming) and he puts Els on breathing treatments again. For Hadley's hip he orders an Xray and off we go. On the way to the Xray place, Hadley asks me if she can have a treat if she is good during it. I let her know for an Xray there really isn't anything to it, she just lays there, she says "yes that's right, but if I"m good, can I have a treat?" Honey we will see. She does great, asks a bunch of questions, totally curious. They come back and let me know the doctor has reviewed them and doesn't see anything of any concern, but the pediatrician will call me and discuss with me. That's right Alex, I'll take Xrays for $100..... What is $1 pack of Hershey Kisses worth to a 5 year old
