Time will tell

Just a few quick pictures of our day today. I took a half-day of vacation and the girls (Hadley and Gracie) walked/rode with their Dance class for the High School Homecoming Parade. They rode, they waved, and they were adorable. After the parade we made a quick trip to Starbucks were Hadley was fascinated with the barista and we met a man originally from Enterprise, Alabama whose daughter showed Quarter Horses (it really is a small world). Then to Mickey D's, a birthday party and lastly the Homecoming Football Game. Renee let us borrow Gracie's Jacket cheerleader outfit from last year, GO JACKETS!!!! Check out the last picture of Hadley in the arms of the Stinger.... that is my child in the arms of someone dressed up in a giant BEE costume. Yes totally shocking this from the child that screamed bloody murder when she got in the vicinity of Santa last year. She assures me she will sit in Santa's lap this year. She will sit on one of Santa's legs and Abby (her imaginary purple and pink dog) will sit on the other leg. I'm so excited!!!!! We will see what happens at Christmas.

From the Mouths of Babes

Hadley and I are ready and waiting for Dancing with the Stars Night Two!!! How exciting. My favorites so far are Lance and Brooke. Not sure that Warren will go all the way but he was very entertaining. Are you watching DWTS? Who are your favorites? While we wait here are some ramblings from Hadley.

Life with Hadley
**************************
Hadley: I want more sprinkles with my hamburger.
Wayne: What?
Carrie: More Sprinkles? What is that?
Hadley: Those right there, I want more sprinkles.
Wayne: Oh, you want Pringles?
Hadley: Yes, I want Sprinkles.
**************************
We are having cooler temps here in N GA this week and I have been sending Hadley to school in pants. One morning I am getting her ready and I pick out an adorable pair of blue jeans. After I get them on her, she sticks her hand down the side of her pants and is pulling at her underwear, clearly in distress, she informs me, "these are not comfortable, I can't handle this."(It should be noted that when I picked her up from school, she had convinced someone to change her into a pair of shorts, clearly they couldn't handle her drama.)
**************************
Hadley: Why are you staring at me?
Carrie: Because I think you are beautiful.
Hadley: Well it is all your FAULT!!!!!
**************************
Hadley: I'm a giggly girl!!!!

Too Cute to be Pajamas

This morning I wasn't feeling all that great, but Hadley looked so sweet in her "new to her" Baby Lulu outfit that I got at this awesome resale boutique, I had to take her outside to get a few pictures. What I got is a series of shots that captures her personality and doesn't really match the sweet little outfit she had on. (Her Daddy said it looked like she was still wearing her pajamas, what does he know, he doesn't even make his own fashion choices.)

BOO WHO....

What are you looking at, right? Well this would be the foot of my bed and there is something under there. What could it be.....
It would be a Boo and clearly he is not happy to see me, actually I'm a little scared by his disgruntled expression.
Peek a BOO I still see you!!!!
Wayne and I are both suckers for anything that shows up at our house and is hungry. Boo is our third of 4 orphans and the last one we took in the house. In large part due to the havoc he brings down on our house daily. He got his name because one morning I was making the bed and he took great delight in going under and jumping out to scare me. We joke he is more like a dog because he loves water (Wayne came home one day and he had turned the kitchen sink on full blast), he loves to chew things (we have many a blanket with multiple holes in them) and he comes when called.

Meet Boo, who still likes to hide under things. (It is now 30 minutes after I took these and he is still under there.)

4 Frames

How many frames of bowling holds a 3 1/2 year olds attention? How did you guess 4? The first couple of frames she thought were kind of cool, after the 4th frame we literally had to coax her through every frame.

Before she completely lost interest, she even bowled by herself a couple of times.
She celebrated with only one pin left.
She celebrated when she was beating her Mommy!!! She jumped for joy when all the pins were gone!
It was a fun evening even though dinner and bowling didn't last after 8 p.m. I don't think we will be going bowling again for awhile.

Yummy to the Tummy!!!

Bet you wonder what you are looking at, can we say yummy????? Wayne is having some sort of food day at school tomorrow and he is supposed to bring a desert. He asked me to break this Éclair Cake out of retirement and whip him up one. The last time I remember making this was when we had a shower for our friends Jason and Nicole's upcoming wedding. Which has been at least 5 years ago. Before that though, this was a regular at our Sunday school get togethers. I remember a couple of occasions Wayne had me make two, one for the get together and one for us to keep at the house, in case he didn't get his fill. I've attached the receipe below, for those of you who have never tried this before, I urge you to indulge just this once in the fabulousness of Chocolate, you won't regret it.

ÉCLAIR CAKE

2 packages French Vanilla Pudding (Instant)
3 cups milk
8 oz. Cool Whip
Graham Crackers

Make pudding using 3 cups milk, stir in cool whip, line the bottom of a 13X9 inch pan with graham crackers, add the pudding mixture, another layer of graham crackers, refrigerate while making topping.

TOPPING:

1 cup sugar
¼ cup of unsweetened cocoa
¼ cup milk
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 stick margarine

Mix everything together, bring to a boil and cool. Pour over top of graham crackers and place in refrigerator. This needs to set at least over night – so that the graham crackers will soften.

The Beauty of Random Moments

Random Hadley moments:

The other night Wayne and I were joking around about something and he threatened to spank me. Hadley overheard and told him that he wasn’t going to spank her Mommy. They went back and forth several times, with him saying he was and her saying he wasn’t. He finally said, “I’m either going to spank your Mommy or you, which is it?” If I am certain of nothing else, I am certain that child did not take a breath before she replied, “spank Mommy”!!!

Tonight when we got home, I got Hadley out of the car and began to completely load myself with all the junk that had to be taken in the house. There was a picture I left laying in the floorboard of the car, which Hadley thought needed to be taken in too. I explained to Hadley that I couldn’t carry another thing because I didn’t have any more arms. She quickly replied, “That’s because we aren’t octopuses.” Wow, what an interesting observation...

Are you ready for some football......? Kicked back, feet up, watching Monday night football with Dad (for all of 10 seconds).

Priorities

What do you do when you get home from church at 8:00 (after running like a crazy woman, because all three clubs had Awana store and you are coordinating it) and your child wants to play with the bubbles she was able to purchase at the Awana store and make muffins to take to her friends at school tomorrow, and you still have 4 loads of laundry to fold and clothes to iron for work and school tomorrow? You play with bubbles from 8:00-8:15, throw her in the bath at 8:15, ger her out at 8:20, have her ready for bed by 8:22 and in the kitchen making muffins from 8:22 to 9:00 (because we had to make two batches) and in the bed at 9:00. She had been such a sweet girl lately, I couldn't refuse her wanting to have a little fun and do something nice for her class, even if it went by in such a whirl she won't remember it.

I got to fold my 4 loads of laundry and do ironing from 9-11, lucky me!!!!! Thank goodness for that Starbucks Cafe Mocha, with the extra shot of mocha and whip cream I got before Church.

Moving on Up

Today is the start of our new Church year and that means a new class for Hadley, the BigGirl class.
This was snapped this morning before we went to Church, what a beautiful breezy morning. Not sure how she got the bruise on the her check. She is telling us a story about a blue step at school, not sure if I'm buying it, never know when she is telling a whooper or not. I'm sure the BIG blue step, just jumped up and got her. Hadley is really into her assignments in the BigGirl Class. This is the BigGirl crew: Gracie, Katelyn & Hadley. They have been together moving up room to room, since they were babies. Three curly haired cuties. Good luck Ms. Debra and Ms. Amy!!!!!

Fair Fun

Last night we went to the County Fair, a good time was had by all, although, there were a few sketchy moments. The first happened a few moments after this first picture was taken. See how smiley Hadley is, refer to picture number two. Yes, that is the Fair workers unloading all the passengers from the ride after it got stuck. I realize this isn't a roller coaster and she isn't suspended upside down, but she was still confused as to why the fun had suddenly stopped and why this stranger was suddenly taking her away from the fun.

She wandered across the grass, unsure what had happened, but quickly moved on to the next round of fun or momentary panic. A kiddie roller coaster shaped like a dragon. What fun we will have, or not?? She is NOT screaming in delight, she is horrified by this ride. The horror is momentary; she is now in awe of this ride and having a grand time. Although, she couldn’t be convinced to give up her death grip on the handle in front of her. She is now totally in tune with the fair experience and conquers her third ride.
It is now time to move on to the junk food portion of the Fair. (This is my favorite part). Corn dogs and funnel cake, yummy!!!!!!

Angry Rocker Chic and her Crazy Imagination

Last night our power was out and we were entertained with the musical style N's of Angry Rocker Chic. She belted out her own version of Gotta Find You by the Jonas Brothers. Her version consisted of repeating, Gotta Find You about 10 times at the top of her lungs, then adding her own line of , "you're gone". Then repeating it over and over again. Seriously it was a broken record. I was praying the power would come back on and I could allow her to vegetate in front of the TV and possibly learn the complete version of the actual song. Yes, I know I am a horrible mother. Below are a few snaps of Angry Rocker Chic!
We finally gave up hope of the power coming back on and Wayne put Hadley to bed early. Because it was early, Hadley stalled even more than usual. She called Wayne back in several times because she had to tell him something, which is always I Love You. However, the last time she had something new. She called him in and said, "Daddy I know this is going to sound strange, but you have to whisper because my babies are sleeping and you can't wake them up." What truly makes this comment "strange" are the babies she is referring to. These babies aren't your typical stuffed babies or her baby dolls, but are the pocket full of rocks she brought home with her from school. The girl has quite the imagination, what a wonderful world it would be, to live in her head!!!!

A step back in time

I was searching yesterday for another video and ran across this. Whenever I ask Hadley where my baby went she says, "don't worry Mama your baby will be right back." If only......

These are a few of Hadley's first steps, she is exactly 11 months, it was taken on 1/15/06.

Gettin' Grace

It became clear when Hadley began walking that she got her "lack" of grace from her mama. In an effort to aid Hadley later in life and possibly help with any coordination that may be required for any sporting aspirations, we have signed her up for dance class. It helps, that the girl loves to shake her badonkydonk, albeit a little wildly and off rhythm. Below is the proud student with one of her best friends Gracie. I can't wait to see these girls tearing up the stage in May at their recital. Here she is fascinated with the taps on the bottom of her shoes, can someone say Excedrin Migraine?
This one is my favorite. Ms. Pam is giving the girls instruction on what they will be doing during the tumbling part of the class. They are listening so intently!!!

I dabble in hair bows occasionally when the mood strikes me, and thought I would try my hand out on something to go with their leotard. Let me just say easy peasy. I was really tickled with how closely they resembled the $15 ones I see in stores (Mine $7 for both). I even got fabric paint and painted their names and the word Dance on one of the ribbons.

When did my calves get fat?

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
Step 5 - Find English girth that will fit around my hippo horses' stomach. (COMPLETE)
Step 6 - Saddle Taz up and go for a spin. (COMPLETE)
Step 7 - Fall on my head. (ALMOST BUT NOT QUITE)

Although, there was one moment of drama, when I went to put my boots on and couldn’t get them on. Seems at some point in the last 15 year my calves have gotten fat. How did I choose to solve this problem? Cram, cram, cram my fat leg into the boot that was too small. The result, extra leather bunching at my ankles causing huge MONDO blisters on the back of my ankles.

It was fun though and Taz did really well until the nice neighbor lady came and offered the horses pears from their pear trees. I think he understood her offer, because when I tried to put him back to work he started bucking, as if to say hello I heard an offer of FOOD!!! It was a short ride because I know I will be feeling it tomorrow and Friday. Baby steps, baby steps. Below is my hippo horse in his itsy bitsy English Saddle.

I did go get him some pears after his ride and that made him really happy!!!

Before I went out for my ride I had to complete Hadley’s second homework assignment for school. Yes, my 3 ½ year old has homework for show and tell tomorrow. The first assignment was a poster that was titled “All about Me”, right up my alley, a giant scrapbook page. This project was a dinorama, creating a dinosaur habitat in a shoebox. Now when I get the assignment Tuesday, I’m thinking this would be an excellent project for a certain 5th grade Science and Social Studies teacher. His response, the teacher didn’t give us enough time. So last night, I collect rocks out of the pasture and then pine bark and pine needles. I tried to get Hadley to help but she had more important things to do, like swing. Tonight I put my shoebox together, I’m pretty proud, I thought it looked very natural and any dinosaur should be proud to live in it. Hadley’s response, “that’s not where I want my dinosaur to live, I want something else in there.” Your welcome, MS. DIVA may I do anything else to assist you tonight??

If you were a dinosaur would you live in my shoebox?

I am a couch potato

There once was a girl that liked to ride horses (me). Watching Hadley giggle uncontrollably the other night as she rode for the first time by herself, reminded what I have been missing. Just one problem, I have become a couch potato and Taz is as big around as a hippo. Hmm, sounds like he and I both need a little exercise....watcha think. While I was having all these crazy thoughts of exercise, I thought why not ride Taz English. For those of you who may not know what the big deal is, I haven't ridden English in almost 15 years and I haven't ever put an English saddle on Taz before, he is 13. This very well could send me right back to my couch potato status. There are several steps to this process.

Step 1- Dig the English saddle from the depths of the shed. (I had to crawl on my hands and knees under the grill to get to it. Wayne obviously thought I would never be using it again). (COMPLETE)
Step 2 - Clean the 15 years of funk of the saddle. (COMPLETE)
Step 3 - Find English riding boots and pants. (COMPLETE)
Step 4 - Squeeze into English pants for a good laugh (And what a great laugh it was after I got them off. I couldn't breathe while I had them on). (COMPLETE)
Step 5 - Find English girth that will fit around my hippo horses stomach.
Step 6 - Saddle Taz up and go for a spin.
Step 7 - Fall on my head.

Tomorrow night, if I am able to complete Step 5, I will attempt Step 6 and hope Step 7 never happens. Wish me luck!!!!

All I can say is this thing had some serious funk on it. The pictures do not do the funk justice. Three white bath cloths totally covered in red clay dust, they had to be trashed.
Pretty nice work though, if I do say so myself.
The boots I knew would fit, but the pants, I knew would be a laugh. They will do until I can determine if I am officially off couch potato status.
