The Third Celebration for Miss Three Year Old

It is July 2013 and I just realized these were still in my draft folder.  I've thought when I lost pictures before in my draft it was pitiful.  But losing them for a year is pretty worthless.  I have got to slow down and make time to blog.  I am inserting these back in November 2012, so they flow.

For her third birthday celebration on her third birthday, we headed to Alabama.  The theme, PURPLE!  Red got her first American Girl doll, a little red headed cutie, we named Sara Beth.

How big does she look here?  Oh my word.

My Second Celebration

The birthday girl.  That smile, it gets her in and out of trouble.  How do you celebrate a firecracker, you surprise her.  The morning of her birthday we let her open her presents (forgive the foggy pictures, the camera was in the car and it was cold).  She had one request for a present, she wanted a Tinkerbell.  Are you seeing a theme here?  Then that afternoon, we told her if she took a nap she would get a surprise when we went out to eat.....we surprised her with her people....her HOLT people.  She squealed such happy little squeals when she saw them, it was priceless.  Lou Lou's birthday was the week before, so we made it a double celebration.

It's MY BIRTHDAY!  WHOOT WHOOT!!!!

The first Celebration

LOVE ME some red head.  The Wednesday before her actual birthday, we took breakfast and an afternoon snack of purple cupcakes to school for her to celebrate her special day.  She was so proud to take a snack, have everyone sing to her and wish her blessings.  The teachers went around the room and had each of the kids wish a blessing on her.  It was so sweet a couple of the older kids really got it, one wished health on her and another wished her a happy day.

Rock IT, Pose IT

Someone had a cheer performance and she rocked it.  Always the poser, the uniform amps it up a notch or two.

Clash of the DIVAS

I snapped a couple of pictures of the girls the other Sunday before Church.  Their outfits clash about like their personalities do these days.  They know how to push each other's buttons and they do it regularly, much to the dismay of their parents.

Trick or NOT

So we have established that I'm not a big Halloween fan.  I had a request for Tinkerbell and a Ninja.  Not having any hand me downs for Hadley I had a challenge to fill the Ninja request.  We didn't really plan to take the girls trick or treating, but Hadley had a party in her gym class.  I bought $4 in felt and went to work.  Not to shabby for $4 bucks.  We were invited to a fall party on the 31st, so the girls got to dress up for that too.  Wayne took the girls around in their neighborhood and they got their fill of trick or treating, while their Mama got to stay inside in the warmth.

Tinker NOT

She wanted to be Tinkerbell, but her cheap Mama who isn’t really a fan of Halloween, made her wear a recycled costume.  She was the cutest little Mickey Mouse doctor ever.  She went with the flow and totally saved me from spending $25.00 bucks on a paper costume that would have been in shreds and served no purpose after that one day.  Call me horrible if you will, just not a fan of the big Halloween thing.

Such a poser

Yep, she is growing up fast.  She is still my snuggle bug and says she is my girl most of the time.  Usually when she says she is someone else’s it is just to get a rise out of me.  A snap of Ms. Thang's  school picture.

Tooters.....

After painting Christmas ornaments, it was time to go home and get ready for Family Pictures. There is nothing that captures your love of your family more, than the stress of family pictures. As Hadley would say, “Mom that is sarcasm”! Yes dear it is. The girls were root tail tooters to say the least. I went in with high expectations, because Ellison is now posing and Hadley has always posed and this is going to be the most fabulous pictures of my girls every….that sound you hear is my balloon of reality being popped rather loudly by the DIVAS! Ellison, “I no want to do it”, finger in mouth, feet planter stubbornly. Then Hadley began this weird sulk, stomping around, shoulders slouched, half hearted I’m here what more do you want thing. Wayne was frustrated because what dude really wants to smile pretty for pictures anyway, then with a bunch of reluctant women. The whole thing was almost enough to make me want to swim away in the lake. Christy did manage to get some great shots, so I am grateful for that.

Painting Memories

I’ve blogged before about our tradition of making Christmas ornaments each year.  It is one of my most favorite things.  The only thing I don’t like is we have to make them so early, to have them by Christmas; it is more of a Halloween tradition.  I cannot wait for the year, that I have a tree full of the girls’ individual ornaments and our family ornaments.  I mean I can wait, because when that happens the girls will be grown and that will be sad, but any who.  I think the tree will be super cool, decorated in our creations and memories.  Of course the tree will be guarded like Fort Knox and no one will be allowed to touch it, but other than that very cool and not stressful at all.

SIX FLAGS FAMILY DAY

So after a full Saturday at The Pumpkin Farm and the Special Olympics, we didn't slow down any Sunday.  It was off to SIX FLAGS!!!!  I'm not really an amusement park person but even I couldn't pass up the gift of free passes.  The girls on the other hand were all about it and Wayne and I like nothing more than surprising the girls.  Well we thought we were surprising them, Curls was apparently on to us, but thankfully didn't say anything until we were on the road.  Had she, we would have been driven crazy longer than the hour we were in the car.  Which Ellison used to drill us with the "Are we there yet routine"?  There were a variety of other questions too, I seriously have blocked them out.  The sheer amount of words that tumble out of her mouth in a minute is absolutely mind numbing.  I'm not sure what her future will hold, but if it isn't some type of Interrogation field, maybe CIA or FBI, she will have missed her calling.  I'm fairly certain she could break a perp in a matter of seconds!

When we first arrived out the Park, we had to get the lay of the land.  We aren't regulars, so weren't sure what to hit up first. Hadley declared she wanted to ride a roller coaster though, so off we went to find one she was tall enough to ride before she backed out.  She rode it and wasn't thrilled, but wasn't scared either.  I'm not sure it was what she expected.  Her first roller coaster was The Mind Bender!!!!

Lil' Bit wasn't tall enough, so she and I hung out in Gotham City and waited for our peeps.

After the roller coaster we headed over to the kiddie section and let the girls ride everything in that section.

We finished up in a couple other sections, it was a beautiful family day.  Wonderful memories!

See JOY

The weekend we went to the Pumpkin Farm, we had a very busy weekend planned.  We got home from the Pumpkin Farm, put The Red Head and Curls down for a nap and got rested up.  That evening we went to Dalton, where I was volunteering with the Special Olympics through Shaw.  Last year I volunteered also, but it didn't work order where Wayne could bring the girls up, the weather was a little cold.  This year though it worked out perfectly and it was an awesome evening.  I worked with a group giving out awards for the Softball event.  The energy was amazing.  You could not help but be inspired and more aware after an evening with these amazing athletes.  They find joy in things we take for granted everyday, I can not tell you the joy that those two hours with my family at this Event brought to myself.  I am so looking forward to another Event in a couple of weeks.  Anyone up for some BOWLING!!!!!!
