Time Capsule

Three things to remember about this week:
1. I have passed down OCD to my daughter.
2. The Ultimate BedTime Stall Queen figured out a new way to prolong her bed time....lock herself out of her room. This was made even better by the fact that Wayne couldn't pick the lock and he had to remove the door knob. Score for Hadley, chick attempted to vegitate in front of the TV and watch Wizards while her Daddy worked on the door. That would be a negative, she was forced to sit at his feet and watch all the trouble he had to go through.
3. Hadley informed us today that she must now wear gloves to Church and School all the time, because her hands are freezing like ice cubes. Here she is in all her gloved glory!!!

A Blessed Christmas

Each year we make Christmas cookies for Santa and it seems each year I am destined to mess it up. Note our pitiful little snowman, we had to engineer them this way. Like last year, I failed to get the correct type of cookie dough and it was too sticky to roll out and cut into shapes. Maybe by next year I will have upped my ability to cook and bake and I will make them from scratch (a girl can dream). Hadley honestly didn't care though; she had a great time decorating the snowmen, no matter how sad they were.

Each year, we let Hadley open one present on Christmas Eve. I pulled all her presents out from under the tree and she got to pick. She was very excited with her pick, the latest Miley CD.
We put our cookies out for Santa. Hadley made the one on the far left, mine is in the middle and the one on the right PawPaw made.
I think we had a visitor, he must not have liked my cookie with all the icing.
Hadley gets just what she asked for, books and a dollhouse. I expected her to be more excited, but I think she was in disbelief. The she starts pulling out all the furniture, holding on to it so it won't go somewhere, very cute.

Santa must know Hadley really well, this was in her stocking. I wish Santa could have found it in an XXL it would have been perfect for Hadley's daddy.
A glitter purse is sure to be a favorite.
Hadley's BellBell and PawPaw got her a kitchen for Christmas. After she opened it she wanted it put together immediately. Wayne was teasing her telling her she would have to take it back to her room, the box weighed at least 150 pounds. Below he is making her think she is holding the box up all by herself.
Below is Hadley's version of Heaven. She loves her new cafe/dollhouse. The only problem is she got a little spoiled with her PawPaw here. See PawPaw would sit back there and play with her and talk with her and now she thinks that whenever she is back there, someone must be back there with her.

Mess = Fun

BellBell and PawPaw have arrived and Hadley has been hard at work in the kitchen with her BellBell. Really, I guess they have been hard at work making a mess, there is flour all over the floor. We are gearing up for a Christmas Eve celebration. I am so excited, we have decided not to have the traditional turkey and dressing. We are having mom's most awesome cube steak and rice. I can't wait!!!!

Christmas Fun

Yesterday was Hadley's Christmas program at school, the kids were adorable. It is always fun to see what all the kids do.Their filters don't turn off just because there is a huge group of strange people, precious!! As soon as the kids come in and they find their parents in the audience they all start waving like mad people.
I won't post all the pictures here, but looking at the pictures, Hadley seems to be around a different group of kids in each one. Seems she used the program as an opportunity to mingle rather than sing. Notice the little arm across Grace's shoulder (bottom right), wonder who's kicked back hangin' out?
So last night we went over to Amanda and Darrell's for a Christmas get together. So much fun and good food. There are a few pictures below of the girls opening their presents. This will be Rachel's first year opening presents, it is so fun watching her try to figure it out and mother hen Hadley helping her out. But before those, I wanted to post what the Mounain Dew cake is suppose to look like. In my original post about it, I couldn't photograph it because I forgot to grease the pain. Isn't it fabulous, the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen!!! Yes, I'm a little excited over a cake, but you see I usually don't cook or bake. Also, the mushrooms pretty good and worth it, not so bummed it took me 30 minutes to find the cheese!!!

Ray Romano

Wow....we are in full gear, two parties today, Kroger kickin' my tail, baking to do for a get together tomorrow, and a Christmas program tomorrow.

Hadley's first party today was at school. The kids have been cooped up inside all week because of the rain, it is Christmas so they are excited, then we gave them doughnuts, and then they got to exchange presents. To say they were in overdrive would be an understatement. I was happy to go back to work and trade that chaos, for work chaos. Hadley got a Cinderella doll in the gift exchange and was pretty excited.

Her second party was at her Dance class. It was a pajama party and she came home with what consisted of a full bowl of candy. Happy days are ahead.

After dance class we went to eat and then to Kroger to get supplies for a get together tomorrow night. I will be making this cake, this mac n cheese, and these mushrooms. I don't bake or cook so it ought to be interesting. I have recently found this site and we have tried a couple of recipes from it, very user friendly and it will let you create a shopping list while you pick out recipes, really cool!!!! The mushroom recipe actually caused a near panic attack in Kroger tonight and I must say Kroger almost won. The recipe calls for Romano cheese, which I have heard of before, but have never had to shop for it before. Let me give you a tip and save you some time if you are ever looking for Romano cheese. After 30 minutes and two trips across the store, I learned Romano cheese is not in the cheese section, it is in the deli section. At one point I thought I had a better chance of finding Ray Romano in Kroger than the cheese. Sure hope the mushrooms are worth it!!!

After my near panic attack, I was forced to indulge in one of these to calm my nerves. The joys of a Grande Cafe Mocho with two extra pumps of Mocha and whipped creme, fabulous.

You want to read what?

So the other night I brought the owner's manual for the car inside. I wanted to see if I could figure out how to program something. Truth be told it seems hard and I never even looked at the book. However, Hadley saw it the next morning and started "reading" it. I loaded her up in the car, put the book back in the glove compartment and she flipped!!! By flipped, I mean yelling from the backseat, "where is my white book, I want to read?" Once I got her calmed down and stopped the car, I promised she could read it that afternoon if she was a good girl. That afternoon I picked her up from school and the first thing she asked for was the white book. She then read it all the way home, insisted on bringing it inside to read, insisted on taking it with her this morning, read it all the way to school this morning, then asked for it again as soon as I picked her up. To tell the truth I'm a little confused by her fascination, I can't even muster the courage to open it, did I mention what I need it for seems hard? Thoughts on what could be so fascinating in this manual? Future Mechanic, because we have already established she won't be an Engineer, see this post?

Did someone say Cookies?

Tonight Hadley got invited to a Christmas Cookie Decorating Party at our friend Connie's (Gracie's sister) house. Ms. Connie sure knows how to throw a cookie party. She had already made all the cookies in all these fun shapes and they were ready to decorate with all the fun trimmings. Each little lady had their own Christmas Tree Tin to make their cookies in, there were sprinkles galore and icing of every holiday color. Hadley ate several of her cookies before Connie served the pizza. So she had to make more after dinner, so she would have something in her tin to bring home. Connie, thank you so much for including us, we truly enjoyed it. What a great way to get ready for Christmas!!!!

As they lay her holding hands, I kept hearing Hadley trying to sing a song. It took me a second but she was mumbling the lyrics to "True Friend" by Hannah Montana. I love to watch these girls, they are 100% girls and bicker like sisters sometimes, but they truly do love each other.

Bruiser

I've started calling her bruiser. The scratch on the nose came from a "friend" at school. I'm not sure of the exact story, but it involved a ring from the treasure box and the "friend" showing it to Hadley. The lovely knot above her eye came from running in church, and catching a pew as she tripped. That's my girl!!! The picture does not show the 3-D nature of the knot, pitiful!!!

The Smackdown

Another boring weekend here at the house. I now have a sinus infection that is kicking my "rump roast" (Hadley's new nickname for her bottom) and Wayne's gout is giving him fits (yes we are packing our things for the nursing home now). We have had to resort to some old fashion entertainment, which gets this giggly girl giddy.

On a sidenote I sent Hadley in to wake her Daddy up this morning and she was whining he wouldn't get up. I told her to give him lots of kisses, she translated that to mean frog splash. I heard Wayne yelp in pain, he was up shortly after. Why waste your time with kisses when a good ol' fashion rump roast kickin' will do?

Doc Holiday

Show N Tell day is tomorrow, finally a project I can get behind. Hadley's teachers sent home a Gingerbread Man cut out of construction paper and we were to decorate him. So Hadley went crazy with the paint and painted the background all sorts of fun colors, then I attached three buttons and painted on the face. If this gingerbread man were real, he would be so yummy covered in icing!! Hadley and Wayne have named him, Doc Holiday.

Things I want to remember:
1. When Hadley smells something that is really strong or different, she doesn't say, "what is that smell?” she says, "What does that smell like?”
2. Abby (imaginary pink and purple dog) takes Singulair like Hadley.
3. The other day, Hadley told her cat, "Seriously Boo, get out of my room." (Seriously, where has she heard that before?)
4. Hadley's sweet side. We are eating marshmallows and Wayne just gave Hadley her last one. I then asked for one, and Wayne told her that he wasn't going to give her anymore, she could eat it or she could give it to me, but it was the last one. Without hesitating, she tore it in half and handed me one and ate the other side. So sweet!
5. Hadley's current bedtime ritual. Thanks to her BellBell Hadley has 10 pillows on her bed we know the exact number because, each night, Wayne or I have to let her toss them off the bed one by one and count which number we are on. It brings her great delight.

6. Hadley hears her father tell me I should drink more water. On a recent trip to Micky D's she scolds me as I fill my glass with their special coke and tells me I need to get water (water with a cheeseburger and fries, come on). There is something about their Coke that is different, I'm convinced it is the fat straw, CRAZY I know.

Move over Miley

Hadley loves music and currently has a new obsession. I'm thinking I need to go exchange that Miley CD we got her for Christmas, for a Taylor Swift one!! We are currently listening to this over and over and over in the car......

House Bound

Hadley and I have been pretty much home bound this weekend, can we say B*O*R*I*N*G!!! Friday night I wanted to go visit Nathan and Miranda in the hospital with their new baby girl, Addison, but Hadley wouldn't have any of it. She loves babies so this was really odd. When we got home, she came right in layed down on the floor and didn't want to budge, I tried to talk her into going to visit the baby and she wasn't interested. Then I picked her up and she was burning up with fever. She didn't even want to go eat. Those of you, who have seen Hadley in action, know the girl can pack away some groceries!!!! Saturday morning we took her to the doctor, she got very sick at the doctor's office and was almost lifeless. They said she had sinus and throat infections. She was lifeless the balance of Saturday night. This is totally out of character for her, even when she is sick. She is a spitfire 24-7!!!! Finally, Sunday morning when she got up she was feeling a little better and more like herself. But because we have been house bound, I have no pictures to share, and have had plenty of time to look back at photos this weekend. Take a look at this cutie, 4 months and already wild curls!!!

H*A*D*L*E*Y

She is getting there. I was looking at Hadley's school work from last week and they are really working on writing letters. I noticed on all her work, no matter what letter they are on that day, she tries to right her name. The girl loves writing H*A*D*L*E*Y.

Ruffles of Style

Gigglin' Dominos

Tonight we went to Dawson and Hunter's co-birthday skating party. Hadley knew what to expect and was ready to roll. But she didn't know her buddy Gracie was going to be there. The girls had as much fun running around the skating rink in their socks as they did skating. Below is their first lap, checking out the place.
I call this one gigglin' dominos, it was their faux fall!!!
You do the hokey pokey, Hadley was more in to the boogie than the hokey!
Putting her whole self in.....
Happy Birthday Dawson and Hunter!!!!
