BellBell and MoMo arrive
Hadley's BellBell and Great Aunt MoMo made it. She is going to have some fun now. The brought glow in the dark sticks, which Hadley loved wearing and acting like a monster. She also got busy stuffing goody bags with candy for her Daddy's class. Then she supervised while I made sugar cookies for the goody bags for her class. Tomorrow is her Fall Party at school and then I think her BellBell and MoMo are taking her to Mickey D's tomorrow night. She is soo excited (she is going to get to play on the playground, which her mean mama and daddy never let her do, because it is just yuck).

Let's Festibal
Last night was Wayne's Fall Festival or Fall Festibal as Hadley started calling it. Because of the weather yesterday they had all the booths set up inside. We went on a walk when we got there and Wayne was showing Hadley were she would be going to school next year. Chick walked around like she owned the place, pointing at things like she know what they were. When I asked her if she wanted to stay at First Presbyterian or go to Daddy's school for PreK there was no hesitation when she picked Daddy's school. I'm a little sad; my baby won't be close to me every day. I like having her just down the road. Below are a few pictures from yesterday evening. In Wayne's room they had a pumpkin race set up: three pumpkins, the same objects hidden in each pumpkin, one object is picked and that is what the kids race to find hidden inside the guts of the pumpkin. Hadley took a turn and she loved it! Wayne took a dunk in the dunking booth. It was 50 degrees and raining, I predict some sick teachers next week. Hadley didn't understand why all the kids wanted to dunk her daddy, but that didn't stop her from waiting in line and taking her turn.

Kiss Me
Have you ever gone in to wake a grouchy 3 year old? Usually, a hellcat on wheels awaits me each weekday morning, however the last two mornings have beeen an exception. The last two mornings I have been greeted with this sweet little song:
She then plants a sweet little kiss on my cheek. Could she be any sweeter, oh wait this is the same kid that stuck a bead up her nose yesterday??
Good Morning Mama,
Missed me, Missed me
Now you gotta kiss me!!!

The Red Bead
Wow what a day. Today was supposed to be a big day at work. Emphases on suppose to be.... A couple of months ago we had a Kaizen Event for work and today was our Present Out. I was actually excited to present my part on this particular Kaizen Event, because it was an awesome Kaizen and a huge win for my Department. We were getting ready to start practicing and I checked my phone to make sure it was on vibrate. I had a missed call. I checked my voicemail and it was Hadley's school calling, my heart sank, what kind of trouble had my girl caused today. As the voicemail continued, I realized she wasn't in that kind of trouble. It seems at naptime she found a bead on the floor and had decided to shove it as far up her nose as she could. Ms. Julia told me I would need to come get her and take her to the doctor, they wouldn't attempt to get it out, and I shouldn't either. Someone volunteered to take my slide for the presentation and I raced to Hadley's school to get her. When I got there to get her she was at the front desk, pitiful!!! You couldn't even see the bead; it was so far up in there. I had already called POD and made her an appointment to see Dr. V. I won't even begin to describe the drama that happened when he attempted to have her blow it out or the complete meltdown that occurred when he pulled out an instrument to try and extract it. We were immediately referred to our ENT. So off we go to Dr. Shirley's office, but he isn't in town, we are to see Dr. Ryals, yes just what I need in this situation a new doctor. Let me just say they were fabulous!!! We put Hadley in my lap, crossed my legs over hers and then I put her in a bear hug, Ms. Frances held her head and in a matter of seconds Dr. Ryals had it out. She then got a prize for sticking something up her nose, I didn't have the energy to argue, we were now two hours into our ordeal.
Before things got interesting today, I had gone to the Dollar Tree and gotten supplies to prepare a couple of shoeboxes for Operation Shoebox. After seeing her pack and the events from earlier in the day, I realize Hadley doesn't understand when things don't fit somewhere. I don't see an Engineering career in her future.

Leaf Fight....
Seeing EB's pictures the other week at the Battlefield made me think about getting out and enjoying the outdoors. So today we made a picnic and loaded up to go to the Battlefield. It really was a beautiful day, maybe not the best day to take pictures, a little windy. I can't share all of them because there are a couple that are maybe's for the Christmas card, but below are a few of my goofy girl in the leaves. She had a blast. (We had to nix the picnic when Wayne reminded me we were going by Fazoli's, I LOVE THAT PLACE. We will have the picnic shortly here at the house.)

Football princess
I'm here in my house and it is quiet. Which is very rare!!! Rotten Stink Stink has gone with her Daddy to the Football Game all decked out in her Jackets cheerleader outfit, a Father and Daughter night. She kept asking me, "Mommy are you sure you don't want to go?" It was really quite sweet, but I couldn't muster the energy to go sit on hard cold metal bleachers and cheer for a high school I didn't go to. (I just don't get it.) I'm glad she enjoys going, Wayne loves football, so it gives them something to do together. Although, I think she loves being a social butterfly more than the game itself. Even if she likes football she will always be my little princess.

Choked up
The other night on the way to church, Wayne was asking Hadley to practice her verse for the night, she kept getting choked up and coughing, this is the conversation that followed:
Wayne: What's the matter do you have a frog in your throat?
Hadley: No, I have a pig in my throat, it keeps making me cough.
Pig, frog what's the difference?

A little Dew will Do ya!
One of the ladies at work brought this the other day, and it is by far one of the yummiest "pound type cake" cakes I have ever had. She was generous enough to share her recipe with me. Two interesting points, I am such a non baker that I didn't even have the correct pan and (this is the best one) I didn't even realize that three of the four eggs I had dropped in had been expired a month until my wonderful hubby pointed it out. Thankfully, I hadn't started mixing yet and he was nice enough to help me strain them out. It may be tomorrow before we know the full extent of the egg damage. This is the only picture I can share, I forgot to grease the pan too!! Not my day to bake.

Mountain Dew Cake
1 Box of Lemon Cake Mix
1 3.5 lemon instant pudding mix
4 whole eggs (room temp)
3/4 cup oil
12 oz. Mountain Dew
Mix all together and bake at 325 for 40-50 minutes. Let set in pan for 10 minutes before turning out. Grease pan!!!!!!

Sweet Sweet Girls
Hadley and I have been babysitting tonight for Ms.Rachel. This is one cutie patootie who is a sweetie too. Hadley was so sweet with her, helping feed her and giving her a drink, such a big helper. We had to make a trip out to the barn to feed the horses, I couldn't figure out how I was going to contain an infant and Hadley, and keep them away from the horses. A wagon ride of course, the girls thought it was a real treat.

Keeping Baby Rachel has brought back a lot of memories of this little angel. Where does the time go?

Hadley: DADDDY......
Wayne: I'm coming you little heifer!!!!!
Hadley: I'm not a leopard!!!
Yes, I know there will be a future post concerning Hadley's inappropriate use of this word, I can feel it coming. My only hope is, she didn't understand what he was saying!!
And now for your viewing pleasure, Ms. Hadley's latest song!!! (Make sure to pause the music at the bottom of the blog).

Falling from Heaven
Today on my lunch break I prepared below post:
This morning as I was dropping Hadley off at school, she informed me that Abby (her pink & purple imaginary dog) had died. I asked her if maybe Abby was just away, in her best matter of fact voice she said, "no, Abby died and went to Heaven, she ran in the road with a car". I was so excited when Hadley created her imaginary dog, I too had an imaginary friend, but mine got in all sorts of trouble. I loved to hear Hadley's stories about things Abby had done or things she liked. It is amazing to me that children of that age can create such a "fantasy" world. It drove Wayne crazy, he didn't understand why he had to bring Abby in from outside or talk to her. It is a sad day for me in our house, my little girl is growing up and no longer needs this comfort. Or, maybe she is making room for a bigger and just as unique friend?
Flash forward to this afternoon when I pick Hadley up:
On our drive home this evening Hadley informs me that today when they were on the playground Abby came back, she fell down from Heaven.
Wonder what is in store for Abby next?

Christmas anyone....??
Yes, I know I have skipped, Halloween and Thanksgiving, but these are just so darn cute. Each time I see them I want to put my tree up now, so I can hang these front and center. One of our Christmas traditions now that Hadley has come along is every year we have two ornaments made. One Hadley ornament and one family ornament.
This year's Hadley ornament is her hand turned into an adorable elf (and the jingle ball is her thumb print). Check out the curls, how realistic!!!!

This year's family ornament, is each of our thumbprints (check out the glasses on the Wayne elf and again the curls on Hadley and I).

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these ornaments, thank you so much Wendy you totally rock, you are so talented!!!!
The Harper's are ready for Christmas 2008.

Sweet Pink Sheep
Well, it's Thursday, Show N Tell day. Show N Tell so far has been exhausting. Today's theme was Farm Day, the kids were to dress as a farm animal or farmer. Yesterday I am in Walmart trying to put something together, when I came across this hat. Perfect it met all my criteria: quick (I didn't have to do anything) and inexpensive ($5.00), sold to the woman in a mad dash. I was in such a hurry I didn't stop to question why the sheep was pink. Today when Hadley got to school, she was met by Macey the Spotted Cow and Coley the Brown Horse, adorable. I think Hadley was pretty cute too, but she had to explain she wasn't a pig. She was pitiful when the kids mistook her for a little oinker. Oh well, I will rock when we get to drag things out from underneath the bed for Show N Tell, there is some pretty awesome stuff hidden under there.
