Field What??

What happened to Field Day?  Do you remember Field Day when you were in school?  I do.  There were races.  Lots of races, individual and relay.  There was basketball and soccer and I'm sure there was other stuff.  My memory is foggy, but I distinctly remember activities that involved competition and pushing your hardest.

Field Day looks remarkably different these days.  There are inflatables and playing on the playground.  There might have been some events that brought the class together as a team, but I didn't get to see those.  I'm thinking it should be renamed to Play Day.

I wasn't able to make it to all of Hadley's Field Day.  I had to work my normal first shift, then go in on 2nd and 3rd shift, so I was a wee bit tired.  I did make it to the end and I got to see some excited kiddos.

Field Day may not be what I remember, but the kids had a blast playing.

You go girl

So I realized I never posted this story.  Hadley loves to read, but she also loves to write.  She writes crazy imaginative stories.  Last year, at her end of the year awards she was recognized for a submission she had written.  This year when it came time for the contest her Daddy tried to coach her along with her teacher.  They asked her to submit a creative writing piece and to really think about she wanted to write.  Well my girl for the better part of the year has been writing an informational paper on why she should have a German Shepard.  So when it came time to create her submission, what do you think she did, listen to her Daddy....?  Um no, she wrote an informational paper on dogs.  To say her Daddy was less than thrilled would be an understatement.  It was during my California trip when the writing and submitting phase of the contest occurred.  It broke my heart, I couldn't be there to comfort her when her Daddy expressed his disappointment.  She was so upset, but when her Daddy asked her why?  She tried to explain that, it was what she wanted to write about.  In my mind, she was standing up to those trying to kill her voice, kind of like a reporter writing a story for the New York Times and not letting their editor, sway their voice.  Which I love!!!!

The funny part of the story, is she was selected as her Class Winner for her submission.  You go girl!!!!  Love you!

Hot bubbles

This little red head has had a rough go in the allergy department.  For the last couple of weeks she has been battling her latest round and it has been one of her worst.  Her antibiotic and steroid haven't been working.  This morning she woke up and wanted her Daddy so I took her to him.  Then a very short while later she appeared at my side, coughed a couple of times, started gagging and it was on.  It is like she can do it on demand sometimes, so pitiful.  I still haven't figured out why she came to me.  That end is suppose to be her Daddy's deal.  She got sick again after she tried to eat, so no Church for her and I again today.  It was to the couch for the Mickey Mouse Marathon.  I leaned over and fell asleep, and while I found her quietness unusual, I wasn't alarmed.  Then she said she wanted to snuggle and when she climbed up on me, her body radiated crazy heat.  She was running a 103.3 fever.  Pitiful!!!!

We were going a little stir crazy by this afternoon, so we went and sat out under a tree and blew some bubbles.  I didn't even bother to put clothes on her, redneckin'!!!!

My ladybugs

Taking pictures of the girls in their latest BellBell creations, caused us to almost get blown away.  Windy is an understatement..

Hadley isn't looking in this one, but I love the way Els is looking at her sister.  She looks at her this way often.  Of course there are times when she is beating her up and pulling her hair, but I choose to only remember this look.
