The Flu Flew back

So before I left Nashville, headed home Thursday, I got a text from Wayne.  Hads is running a fever and she can't stay at school.  It is a little surprising because the weekend before she ran a ridiculously high fever 104.6, and Wayne took her to the doctor and said she had a sinus infection.  Her fever broke the Tuesday before I left for Nashville, so we thought all was good.  Wayne took her back to the doctor thought on Thursday and they tested her for the flu and she tested positive.  So my apologies to all the parents that we unknowingly contaminated with the flu, we were told it was a sinus infection....doctors.

So the high of my fun girls trip can to an abrupt halt on Friday, when I got to stay home with the lovelies.  Hadley was in lock down in the front room, which suited her just fine, because she didn't move off the couch unless I was throwing food in.  Ellison was on lock down with me, YAY ME!!!!!  This equalled a long day.

After two days in the house with both of them, Wayne decided Els needed some fresh air Saturday night and took her out to a friends surprise birthday celebration.  Our "STAR" sporting the duck face.....again....Peace!

Dead or Alive on a Bed of Roses

So one of the things on my bucket list has been to see Bon Jovi.  I know it's not all adventurous or anything, but it is something I have always wanted to do.  Let's face it he isn't getting any younger, and neither am I (apparently no one is too old for Bon Jovi).  So on his most recent tour, he was going to be in Nashville.  On a lark, I texted Stacia to see if she liked him and if she would be interested in going....so she totally was.  I took off a Wednesday afternoon and Thursday from work.  I drove up to Nashville Wednesday at lunch, we went out to eat at Cheesecake Factory, then went to the concert.  He was amazing.  No one opened for them and he sang for 3 solid hours, crazy.  What is even crazier is the lady two seats down from me, literally knitting a scarf before the concert started.  She did put her scarf away in her large craft bag, once he started, but I was amused nonetheless.

Added bonus Thursday Stacia and I got to catch up, since we don't get to see each other nearly enough.  So much fun!!!!

Embracing your freakishly overprotective side

I still can't say I love the trampoline....I think they are kind of dangerous, I mean broken bones kind of dangerous, which I guess kids bounce back from.  I've been trying to embrace it, even joining in with the kiddos.  I may or may not take a lot of the fun out of it, making them take turns when they start doing different stuff, but I'm trying.  The other thing that I kind of didn't realize is what a great behavior modifier it would be.  If you take a good nap, we will go jump on the trampoline when you get up.  If you eat all your dinner we will go jump on the trampoline later.  Hello, bribery...parenting's best friend.

Bringing things up to date

Iphone purge time.....I couldn't get the latest iphone update because I had too many pictures.  So hook up to the computer we did, I always hate this part, because something always goes wrong.  Well nothing catastrophic this time, just problematic all 200+ pictures went into their own individual folders. Oy, yay to organize those.

Most of these may have been posted to Instagram or facebook, but I wanted to document them in here.  In the event I make this blog into a book for the girls one day.

This little lady sports more 'tude in her little frame than most of us see in a lifetime.  Peace out duckers.

On the way to the doctor, this little lady didn't feel well at all, bless her and her bitty baby.

She can talk me into anything with those dimples.  She wanted her own umbrella, which is a pain when it is raining, but it makes her so happy.

We wish you nothing but peace and love.

It's really a rough life.

We went to a marriage conference and after the conference, she wanted everyone's stickers.  Say my Name, Say my Name....

She loves her KyKy.  Kya was letting her hold the sticks while she drummed and she was absolutely giddy!!!

She is starting to be able to dress herself.  Sometimes it goes better than others.  This day, we had a little problem.  I guess technically she was warm, it was just upside down.

I love The Voice and one of my favorite contestants was in Calhoun.  Hello Tony Lucca!!!

Hads got a trampoline for her birthday.  I may or may not have forgotten how old I was and paid for it the next day.

Hadley presented Ellison with this letter the other night at Church.  The love these two have for each other, just makes me smile.

Hadley is now a cameo belt in karate and she just loves it.  I'm not sold on the idea, seeing as she came home the other night with this gear.  I wanted a princess, I got a karate kid.  This is my baby and this means she is getting hit in the head.

She Melts my Heart

My phone just rang and I saw First Pres Daycare and I thought, oh no Els is sick and I started to panic, because she didn't seem sick this morning. I immediately start thinking what a horrible parent I am for not realizing she was sick, second child, just not as aware. All that mommy guilt in just 5 seconds. It's crazy what we can heap on ourselves. I picked up the phone, "this is Carrie". It was Beverly, she manages the office, now I'm freaking out because did I forget to pay. Oh Lord, why do we always go to the worst case scenario. She said, "I just have to tell you the most precious story." Whew, I'm in the clear, well other than the fact that I'm in tears as I type this. Saturday before last, eight days ago....we saw Beverly out one night when we were eating. She stopped to say hello to Ellison, but Ellison was shy at first because she wasn't sure about seeing her outside of school, but then she wanted to give her a hug. Beverly told her she probably shouldn't because she wasn't feeling well, she had a touch of laryngitis, you could tell she was straining to talk. Beverly walked out the door and Els went back to playing on the iphone. Apparently, Ellison didn't see Beverly last week at school and today was the first day she saw her. Beverly said Ellison came up to her all excited to remind her she had seen her out and then asked her if she was better, could she talk now.

A three year old, eight days ago.....and she is remembering to ask if someone is better. Heck I had forgotten Beverly was sick when we saw her until Beverly started telling the story. There isn't a doubt in my mind, that God planted this child in our lives so that we could see the opportunities for compassion. She reminds me everyday through her actions, that I need to look up, see others in need, be more present and love on someone.

This is also the same child that last week during playtime at school asked her friends to stop playing circle up and requested her teacher lead a prayer circle for her cat Levi to get better.
