From the Carseat to the Driver's Seat

This weekend, I made the mistake of telling Hadley I was going to put her to work. She didn't get to watch cartoons, she was going to help me clean. Did she want to scrub the tub or dust? I expected her to scream in horror and act all girly, she quickly replied that she wanted to scrub the tub. Knowing I couldn't give her the real deal to clean with, I set her up with a bowl of water and a bath cloth and let her go to town scrubbing. Amazingly it held her attention for all of 5 minutes. Ah the days when cleaning was fun, they are long gone for me!!!!

FROM THE CARSEAT TONIGHT

Hadley: Mom when do I get to sit where you and Daddy do?
Me: What???
Hadley: When do I get to sit in yours and Daddy's seat?
Me: You mean you want to sit here and drive the car?[Heart palpatations for me]
Hadley: Yes, I want to drive the car.
Me: [I glance back in horror, then explain] It will be a very long time before you drive honey, you aren't even 4 yet.
Hadley: Mommy just now you weren't watching the road. You remember when you weren't watching the road and you wrecked the car on the way back from Bowman's and I bit my lip and freaked out. You have to pay attention, Daddy wouldn't like that, if you did it again.
[Wow, what a great day a 3 year old backset passenger who is ready to be a driver, clear the road and Lord help me!!!]

Carrie, that conversation is too funny! Nothing like an almost 4 year old to bust you! (or want to drive the car, for that matter!!)
