Oh the racket

I was reading Kellie's post the other day, thinking wow I'm so glad this hasn't happened to me. Not that it couldn't happen to me or that it wouldn't happen to me, just that I was glad I hadn't had to deal with it yet. Knowing full well my day was coming. Only my day came and it happened in my own yard. Yesterday evening we got home from school and we are walking down the driveway and we climb the steps. Our neighbor is in his yard working on his camper, he is banging loudly, but honestly I don't really notice. Our neighbor is one of those that is always in his yard, working on something. I'm unlocking the door and all of a sudden in the most shrill, decibel piercing, indignant tone I hear, "Hey would you keep that racket down!!!!!!!!" I jerk my head up and realize, yes the neighbor is looking at us and yes he knows it was one of us yelling at him. I scold Hadley loudly (so he understands we don't condone this behavior and so he understands it wasn't me!!!!), "Hadley we don't yell things like that." Very embarrassed I pray the earth swallows me whole, no such luck, I quickly duck in the house (like he doesn't know who I am and where I live).

Her Not so Capable Sassiness

So yesterday I was home with a sick kiddo, she had a sinus infection. She wasn't bad, but I have been feeling a bit under the weather myself, so it was a little trying. She has never been one to act sickly, even when she is truly sick. She just gets a little extra SASSY!!! Considering she already extremely SASSY, it's a wonder she can get any more SASSY!!

Those of you who have been around Hadley at all, may have heard Wayne and I use the word FOCUS, from time to time with her. Sometimes she gets a little too animated and just won't FOCUS. When we want to get her attention, it is our word of choice. "Hadley, FOCUS."

Last night, Wayne went to sit with Hadley while she said her prayers. She wanted him to say them with her. They began saying the prayers together and at some point he stopped. He said all of sudden she stopped, looked at him with the most exasperated expression and tone and said, "FOCUS!!!!" Needless to say he couldn't because he lost it he was laughing so hard. Further encouraging her SASSY mouth!!

Flash forward to this morning, and we have her SASSINESS in all her glory. I accidentally bumped her in our hustle to get out the door.
HADLEY: You do not bump me [use your best 16 year old voice here].
ME: Hadley, you need to drop it.
HADLEY: [Remember 16 year old voice] No, I will not drop my attitude, I will keep it.
(Amazing she knew exactly what I wanted her to drop, these little people are so smart, although her attitude stinks).

Somehow we manage to make it to the car. I get Hadley strapped in and covered with her blanket. By the time I make it to the drivers side and get in she is whining and complaining (nails on chalkboard folks). I didn't place the taggie in her hand and she wants it. But she doesn't just want it, she wants it now (mama fixin' to crack folks).
ME: Hadley I am not going to get out of this car, just to come give you your taggie, you are a big girl and are capable of finding it yourself.
HADLEY: [Blubbering like a baby, using her best 16 year old tone] I don't like the word capable, because I CAN'T.
ME: Mommy is turning her radio up really loud and singing now!!!!!!

I drop Hadley off and make it to work. I am so happy to be there. Pure bliss, just getting caught up on my 120 e-mails, but I don't care. There may be 120 e-mails but there is silence and no sassiness. Until my phone rings 30 minutes after I get to work. Her sassiness is vomiting and must be picked up......

Wheels on the Bus

We had a quiet weekend at the house this weekend. Saturday, birds invaded us, but this conversation made us giggle.

Wayne: Hadley, let’s go get the gun and sh0ot the birds.
Hadley: No.
Wayne: Come on, let’s do it.
Hadley: No, God wouldn’t want us to shot the birds.
Wayne: God would be okay with us shooting the birds if we were going to eat the meat.
Hadley: We don’t want to eat the birds; the meat will make us sick.
(Huh, wonder if we have a future vegetarian)

We have been doing a behavior chart with Hadley. Once the sheet is filled up she gets a reward. Her reward for this chart was suppose to be a trip to the movies, but because of scheduling conflicts, it will be a while before she gets to go to the movies. As a substitute reward she got this awesome wooden puzzle. It’s amazing how sweet she can be for a sticker.

Hadley sang this new song on the way home from Cubbies last night. I hadn’t heard this version of Wheels on the Bus and it made me smile. Enjoy!!!!!

Our Whole World in his Hands

Stacia pointed me towards this blog and I love it. She has the most amazing pictures and is so busy I don't know how she fits it all in. She was tagged and challenged all her readers. I wasn't sure I was going to do it, until I went to the folder and saw this picture. Wow takes me back!!!

Here are the Rules
Rules
1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.2. Go to the 6th Folder and then pick the 6th Picture.3. Post it on your bloggy and tell the story that goes with the picture.4. Tag 5 other glorious peoples to do the same thing and leave a comment on their bloggy tellin’ them ’bout it!!!! (I tag each of you, stepping back in time, sure makes you smile).

Hadley is 10 days old in this photo. We were trying to stage her birth announcement photo. She was so content to lay there in his hands. We ended up not using the photo, because of the funky shadow, but to see our our whole world in his hands, knowing what we know now.....awesome!!!!
