Her Not so Capable Sassiness

So yesterday I was home with a sick kiddo, she had a sinus infection. She wasn't bad, but I have been feeling a bit under the weather myself, so it was a little trying. She has never been one to act sickly, even when she is truly sick. She just gets a little extra SASSY!!! Considering she already extremely SASSY, it's a wonder she can get any more SASSY!!

Those of you who have been around Hadley at all, may have heard Wayne and I use the word FOCUS, from time to time with her. Sometimes she gets a little too animated and just won't FOCUS. When we want to get her attention, it is our word of choice. "Hadley, FOCUS."

Last night, Wayne went to sit with Hadley while she said her prayers. She wanted him to say them with her. They began saying the prayers together and at some point he stopped. He said all of sudden she stopped, looked at him with the most exasperated expression and tone and said, "FOCUS!!!!" Needless to say he couldn't because he lost it he was laughing so hard. Further encouraging her SASSY mouth!!

Flash forward to this morning, and we have her SASSINESS in all her glory. I accidentally bumped her in our hustle to get out the door.
HADLEY: You do not bump me [use your best 16 year old voice here].
ME: Hadley, you need to drop it.
HADLEY: [Remember 16 year old voice] No, I will not drop my attitude, I will keep it.
(Amazing she knew exactly what I wanted her to drop, these little people are so smart, although her attitude stinks).

Somehow we manage to make it to the car. I get Hadley strapped in and covered with her blanket. By the time I make it to the drivers side and get in she is whining and complaining (nails on chalkboard folks). I didn't place the taggie in her hand and she wants it. But she doesn't just want it, she wants it now (mama fixin' to crack folks).
ME: Hadley I am not going to get out of this car, just to come give you your taggie, you are a big girl and are capable of finding it yourself.
HADLEY: [Blubbering like a baby, using her best 16 year old tone] I don't like the word capable, because I CAN'T.
ME: Mommy is turning her radio up really loud and singing now!!!!!!

I drop Hadley off and make it to work. I am so happy to be there. Pure bliss, just getting caught up on my 120 e-mails, but I don't care. There may be 120 e-mails but there is silence and no sassiness. Until my phone rings 30 minutes after I get to work. Her sassiness is vomiting and must be picked up......
