Inconsiderate ME....WHATEVER

Wow what a day, what a day, what a day, I don’t even know what to say. (Dr. Seuss anyone?) Our morning got off to a rocky start to say the least, all hopes of getting to work on time were shot, my plan for the day would not go as I had laid out, and I clearly had no regard for Hadley’s social engagements.

This morning on our way to school/work, Hadley and I were rear-ended by a BIG honking truck. Everyone physically is fine and I am so very grateful, but emotionally if I never drive in the rain again I will be a happy girl. You might recall this post that sums up my fear of driving in the rain after my last ill-timed departure from the road. Initially I had no idea what had happened. We were jerked hard and when I opened my eyes I thought I had hit the car in front of me, but then it pulled off and I realized I had been the one that was hit. I looked in my rear view and all I saw were headlights. I flashed to look at Hadley and all I saw were these wide blue eyes staring at me in horror. I had a moment of panic, because I honestly thought she was going to lose it. In her words last time she “freaked out” and I expected this time to be nothing less. Thankfully though, she never shed a tear and was so brave, she actually provided some comic relief during the whole ordeal.

Before the police arrived I climbed in the backseat to sit with her, comfort her and get a close up look to check her out.
Me: Hadley thank you for being so brave and not crying.
Hadley: I am brave aren’t I, and my froggy is brave too, he isn’t crying either. You want to give him some neck sugar.
(Me thinking to myself: Sure I would love to kiss on your stuffed froggies neck, that would give these people who are rubber necking a real good story to tell.)

After the police arrive, they have us pull into a gas station parking lot. I don’t have the car in park and I hear this:
Hadley: When are we going to be through?
Me: Hadley we have to wait for the police officer to finish the police report.
Hadley: My friends are at school waiting on me and it is almost snack time. I can’t miss it.
(Me thinking to myself: Wow how inconsiderate of me to delay your socializing with a fender bender!!!)

We are finally on our way and I hear:
Hadley: Mommy is the police officer done with his report.
Me: Yes, Hadley he has finished the accident report.
Hadley: We were in an accident? But we didn’t go off in the grass like before?
Me: Yes, Hadley it was an accident, we don’t have to go in the grass for it to be in an accident.
Hadley: Actually, I think it was a wreck.
(Me thinking to myself, WHATEVER!!!!)

We get to school and she literally hits the door running and is in the classroom socializing before I can make it there. Clearly this morning is no time for Drama!!! Now if I could just get the stupid car to quit beeping at me and telling me my trunk is open (no duh you stupid car, I was rear ended!!!!!) my anger issues and sucky attitude from the day would be resolved.

And because one beat up Camry looks like any other Camry, enjoy the latest stylin' of the next contestant on Project Runway!!
