Catchin up

I haven't posted in a while, but we have been busy pulling all the baby gear out and still have so much to do.

Last Friday night I kept a friends little girl while they went to the football game. The girls were so sweet together and played so well. We only had one foot stomping whine fest and I'll give you one guess who that was from? Seems someone has a harder time sharing her friends than her toys. When little Makenzie wanted to help me vacum a certain little diva stomps her foots and says, "but I want her to play with me, not you!!" As the evening wound down, I made them a pallet in the play room and set them up watching a DVD. Hadley kept asking me what a pallet was. I've probably never made one for her before because she doesn't generally sit still long enough. Oddly though they were both fast asleep within about 20 minutes of laying down.

Tonight was The Fall Festival at The Bud. This is Hadley posing in the fire truck before they started blowing it's horn. At one point last night we are standing in a group of people outside and they start blowing it's horn. All of a sudden, I see her turn towards the truck, spread out her little arms in a frustrated gesture and at the top of her lungs I hear, "Seriously"!!!! I take a couple of steps back, seriously folks who does this rude little diva belong too, because it isn't me!!!! Ground please swallow me NOW!!!!!!!
This is a picture of just one of the 20 some odd little girls Hadley was hugging on. I learned last night I have a bona fide, can't keep my hands to myself, I'm going love you to death hugger. Everytime we passed a little girl Hadley knew them and was hugging on them. After one particular hug fest where the little girl almost fell down, I had to tell Hadley enough. She crosses those arms across her chest, crinkles up her nose and says, "but mama we are friends, I have to hug them."

Gotta Getaway

We have just gotten back from a quick last minute trip to Pigeon Forge. We really didn't have any specific destinations in mind, we just wanted to get away from the hum drum everyday. The temperature was perfect, but I think it will be a couple more weeks before the leaves start changing. Although, we did take in quite a bit of nature. We even fit in a little shopping.

It was a nice getaway and the most entertaining part of the trip was our stop in the Disney store. Hadley has never been to a Disney store (I can hear Stacia gasping all the way in Virginia), which is quite unusual given her love of all things Disney. However, the prices scare me and I'm not that crazy about character clothes, so I have deprived her. As we went in Wayne and I both expected her to go crazy with excitement, maybe running from toy to toy. What happened still has us shaking our heads. She steps out of her stroller looks at a Snow White toy with the 7 dwarfs, counts them, then her eyes go to the ceiling and we lost her. Four TV's playing Cinderella, completely captivated her. All the toys, all the princess stuff and it didn't matter how much we coaxed, how much we tried to divert her, she kept saying, "No, I want to watch Cinderella", ending our trip to the Disney store!!! Then the rest of the day she kept asking us when we were going to go back to the room, she wanted to watch TV. We went all that way, all that beautiful country around us and she would have been content to veg on the couch and watch TV.

Corn shucking, crushin' and chinchillas

Hadley had another field trip with her class today, it was at a local petting farm. I took the day off work, so I could go with her. It was such a beautiful day to be outside. They had several activities set up for the kids. Riding stick horses through a maze, feeding goats, a tractor ride, scarecrow decorating, and corn shucking. The kids then got to play on the playground and have a picnic. It was interesting to see how Hadley interacted with her classmates or rather interacted with one of her classmates. I don't know that I saw her say more than two words to any of her classmates other than a certain little boy. She was like a magnet to him, and bless her heart he is literally a whole head taller than her. It was really sweet though, at one point they were playing hide and seek. I think he is her crush. I also enjoyed watching her shuck corn and captured her complete disdain for it. I don't see her being a farmer's wife!!! Other than playing with her "Crush" I think her favorite part was the chinchilla. She just get staring at it, in complete awe of it.

My Punkin'

In the words of Hadley, "it was a long day." It was a great day though. First we made our family trip to the pumpkin farm, where the weather was perfect and we were able to enjoy a picnic by the creek. Then we went to a cookout. It was a perfect fall Saturday!!
