We have a First Grader
Today was Hadley's first day of First Grade. She was beyond excited to get back to a routine. I took her to school this morning, so I could take the required first day of school pictures. As we were pulling in to+- the school, I asked her if she wanted me to walk her in or just drop her off. She quickly replied I could just drop her off. As soon as I asked the question, I wondered why I had even asked, because I was going to do what I wanted to do, which was walk her in. I guess I wanted to hear her say she wanted me, but my big girl is growing up so quickly.

I'm a BIG kid now
Els started back to school Monday. She started at a new school, which is down the road from her old school. When we got to the stop light, she was looking to the right, like we use to turn and we turned left. She was a little confused. I think that she remembers her old school and old teachers and thought that was were she was going today. She walked right in though, even greeted a man that was signing in at the gym. She began exploring her room immediately and was completely content. When I asked her for a hug because Mommy was leaving, she told me no. I know she meant no she wasn't giving me a hug, not no I wasn't leaving. She is so independent.
This picture makes me smile. This is one of those toys, that has shapes that you push through the holes. She didn't understand why the shapes weren't rattling around inside when she shook it, so she put her eye up to one of the holes to get a closer look.
When I picked her up today, she was happy to see me, but when I asked her if she was ready to go, again she told me No. I mean seriously I had to chase after her in the room, she didn't want to leave. The afternoon teachers said they were worried when the kids woke up from their naps, they would be scared because they weren't the same teachers that were there when they went to sleep. Guess what, my girl popped up, waved at one of the ladies, and ran over and gave her a hug. The teacher was a complete stranger at that point, but Els doesn't care, she is going to charm you.

Tired before starting
We went to Wayne's room Saturday to work on it. Within 10 minutes of being there this one had created this mess and then didn't even play with it once she dumped it out. Before we left both her hands were completely covered with orange marker and she had colored one of her cheeks with yellow highlighter. She is exhausting.

Puke, Wedgies, Bullies & Water
Friday I took of work and we spend a family day at the Creative Discovery Museum. The best $10.95 a person you can spend. The girls had a blast exploring, although the trip didn't get off to a great start. Miss Ellison is our resident gagger. She comes by it honestly as her mama is the same way. It isn't unusual for her to get choked up, gag and then spew. We were just getting in to Chattanooga, we heard the cough, the gag, and there she blew. I unbuckled my seat belt, flipped myself around and promptly threw my ring hand under her mouth, to catch what I could. Let's just say not much and have you ever smelled your wedding ring after it has been puked on, not GOOD!!!! I was able to limit myself to gagging, but it was horrible... Once we final found a place to stop and get Ellison cleaned up, we changed her in to this little 12 month outfit, despite the wedgie it gave her all day long, we had a great day.
I want to remember this picture, because the little boy to Ellison's right, well he tried to take one of the cups she had in the previous picture, let's just say it didn't work out too well for him. He grabbed hold if it, she jerked it away from him, then tucked it to her belly and curled over so he couldn't get it from her. Yeah it didn't matter that he was more than a head taller than her, she wasn't taking his bullying.
After we went to the CDM, we let the girls play in the water by the Aquarium. Ellison fell, 3 or 4 times and was completely soaked when we went to eat lunch. She didn't care though, she enjoyed her Mellow Mushroom with the rest of us.
